Your host:Ā Brigitte Gemme, Ph.D.

Brigitte is a lifelong lover of books and discerning reader. Her background as an educator and researcher in sociology of science and education prepared her well to deal with the controversies that abound in the field of nutrition.Ā

She has been teaching healthy vegan nutrition and cooking since 2017, and is currently training to become a Lifestyle Medicine Coach certified by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.Ā

Discovering Brigitte was a lifesaver! Her dedication to educating her audience has deepened my understanding of veganism. Grateful for this invaluable resource, I’ll definitely be sticking around.

Eyrun T.

I enjoy your no nonsense style with emphasis and knowledge of nutrition. Thank you for all you do.

Maggie Z.

You’re doing good things in the world and I love that you’re up on the latest research, that there is method (science) to your madness and no wackadoo ā€œecho chamberā€ going on (pardon the expression).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be plant-based or vegan to join?

The Plantwise Book Club welcomes everyone who wants to nurture their health and is curious about plant-based health.

Do I have to read the books in full before the meeting?

Don’t worry, how much of the book you actually read is totally up to you. Brigitte will always recommend a reading path for those who are too busy to read the books cover to cover, and provide summaries of the books in lay language.

What if a book is too scientific or overwhelming?

Brigitte will present the key points of each book in accessible terms for everyone.

What if I can’t attend live?

The book discussion and practice labs on Tuesdays will have replays posted within 48 hours on a password-protected website.

What if I fall behind or skip a meeting or two?

No worries! You can catch the replays if you have time, or just hop into the sessions for the next book.

Does the membership include the cost of the books?

No. You can buy the paper books from your local bookstore, bookshop.org, or Amazon, or the e-books on your preferred platform. You can also borrow the books from your library.

I’m shy. Do I have to show my face on camera and talk?

As the facilitator, it’s always nice when folks have their camera on, but you don’t have to! You won’t ever have to talk if you don’t feel like it. 😳

Will we discuss personal health topics?

We will be focused on discussing the books’ ideas and suggested actions, not on individual participants’ health circumstances.

What if I don’t like a book or disagree with the content?

It happens! Sparks of insight occur when ideas collide.

What’s the cancellation policy?

You can cancel anytime via the Skool community platform. Your subscription will remain valid until the end of the period you have already paid for.Ā
